Traditional Horse Market in Quirnbach

The traditional horse market has a long history – it has been attracting around 15,000 visitors every year since 1876 – and is one of the most important horse markets in Rheinland-Pfalz. Every year on the second Wednesday in November, the tranquil village of Quirnbach in Western Palatinate turns into a lively meeting place for animal lovers, market visitors, and partygoers from near and far. The market starts with the popular horse show featuring awards for various breeds at 9:45 a.m. About 100 booths and numerous food stands invite the people to stroll around, discover, and enjoy. Regional products, handicrafts and culinary delights are offered. Children can look forward to pony riding at 2 p.m. A special highlight of the event is the raffle including attractive prizes. Inside the festival tent, live music, Palatinate specialties and beverages invite the visitors to linger. Brass music is provided from 11 a.m. An exuberant mood is guaranteed when the party band “Hüttenrocker” performs in the tent at 7 p.m. The Quirnbach horse market is more than just a market – it is a place where history, ancient customs and social gathering come together. It's well worth the visit – not only for horse fans!
