Halloween Festival at the Celtic Village of Steinbach
The Celtic Village in Steinbach, a settlement replica, opens its mighty gates on Halloween in order to celebrate SAMHAIN before it closes during winter. SAMHAIN, the Celtic origin of Halloween, was the beginning of the New Year and winter. On that day the Celts feasted and celebrated extensively. Visitors can expect an exciting program for the young and the old. Swedish fires illuminate the venue. Varied join-in activities such as spear-throwing, crafting leather bags and scarecrows are offered. The torchlight procession starts at 7 p.m. and leads to the Celtic garden. Here people learn about the suspenseful story of the origin of Halloween. Afterwards, the handcrafted scarecrows will be burnt in the campfire, so that the good wishes for the New Year may come true. The Irish folk band “Heebie-Jeebies” performs from 8 p.m. Food, twist bread and beverages are offered. The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission fee is € 7 for adults, € 5 for children up to twelve years and € 19 for families (2 adults + 2 children).
