Wine Hike in Grünstadt-Sausenheim
The wine hike in Grünstadt-Sausenheim, first held in 2004, counts among the best-known and most popular wine hikes along the northern part of the German Wine Street. It traditionally takes place on the first weekend in June. The loop trail of approx. 5.5 km (3.4 miles) leads through the vineyards and offers a fabulous panoramic view. Along the hiking trail, participants can treat themselves to regional dishes and selected wines provided at 8 stations. Local wineries spoil their guests with specialties such as Palatinate yeast dumplings, tarte flambée, spit roast, asparagus salad, flame-grilled salmon, coffee and cakes and much more. Visitors who purchase a wine tasting pass can taste one wine of their choice at each station. The wine tasting pass includes a souvenir glass and is available for € 20 at any of the stopover points. Holders of a wine tasting pass can participate in a raffle and win attractive non-cash prizes, if their pass is completely stamped, provided with address data and is handed in by 6 p.m. at one of the stations. The purchase of a wine pass is not mandatory for participation in the hike! On both days of the event, a shuttle bus will run between Grünstadt train station and the hiking trail from 9.45 a.m. to 7.15 p.m. every half an hour. The event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
