Exhibition “Icy Eternity” at Museum im Westrich Ramstein

The Museum im Westrich is showing its new special exhibition with the German title “Eisige Ewigkeit? – Die Vergänglichkeit und Schönheit von Eis und Schnee“ (English translation: “Icy Eternity? – The transience and beauty of ice and snow”). Helene and Thomas Hoffmann both have a lot of experience in the polar regions. They deal with ice and snow on many levels, both professionally and privately. They are now showing some of their works in the Museum in Westrich. This exhibition is dedicated to showcasing preserved snow and ice samples from the polar regions. It is intended to inspire wonder and to share enthusiasm, but also to reflect on the fragility of our planet. The exhibition also highlights the Neumayer station(s) in Antarctica and its Palatinate namesake, the geophysicist and polar explorer Georg von Neumayer (1826-1909). The exhibition can be visited until March 31, 2024, throughout the regular opening hours of the museum which are Wednesday and Sunday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is free!
