Exhibition “US Housing Area Fliegerstraße” at Kaiserslautern City Museum
In cooperation with the Docu Center Ramstein the Kaiserslautern City Museum (Theodor-Zink-Museum I Wadgasserhof) is showing its new exhibition “Fliegerstrasse, Blutacker und “Amiwissje”. Pictures and stories about the very special US housing area Fliegerstrasse on the northern slopes of the city of Kaiserslautern are the focus of this new special exhibition. With its large barracks in the middle of extensive greens this settlement shaped the cityscape from the start of its construction in the early 1950s until it was demolished and built over in 2011. What was special about this housing area was its proximity to the houses of the German population. The exhibition can be visited until January 28, 2024 during the city museum's opening hours. These are Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is € 5, reduced fee € 2.50.
