May Festival in Maikammer

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the May Festival in Maikammer will take place again this year. Wineries and club houses throughout the village invite visitors to sample regional wines and dishes. Numerous wineries offer vineyard hikes or vintage wine tastings. On Thursday (which is a German holiday) the official opening of the festival starts with the tapping of the wine barrel and musical entertainment on the market square at 11 a.m. Young visitors can enjoy a children's carousel and various games. The Automobil Club Maikammer organizes the “International Wine Rallye” of veteran vehicles for the 23^rd time which starts on Saturday at 9 a.m. on the market square. On Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. an arts and crafts market will be held along the Weinstrasse Süd, where hobby artists and craftsmen from the local area will demonstrate their skills and offer their manufactured items for sale (only in good weather!).
