City Festival in Kaiserslautern

The Kaiserslautern City Management organizes the annual city festival in Kaiserslautern called Altstadtfest. Around 150,000 visitors enjoy this colorful mixture of entertainment, culture and culinary delights every year on the first weekend in July. With live music on 6 open-air stages the historic city center turns into a huge event mile. The entertainment program ranges from rock music via soul through to blues. Furthermore the program includes street theater and presentations of arts and crafts. Throughout the old part of town, 70 vendors offer a wide range of merchandise such as leather goods, jewelry and much more. A flea market is held on Kanalstrasse and a medieval market takes place on Klosterstrasse. Culinary specialties and beverages are available as well. The festival takes place on Friday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
