Saturday, October 1 – Sunday, October 2 Culinary Beer Hike
between Landstuhl and Kindsbach

Along the 8 km long trail (5 miles) that connects Nanstein Castle in Landstuhl and Bärenloch Lake in Kindsbach hikers have the opportunity to enjoy culinary delights, a varied musical entertainment program and beer specialties. Food and drinks are offered by local restaurants and well-known breweries at 6 stop over points. The trail features wonderful views. A beer pass including a beer glass is available at a price of € 8 at the starting points (either Nanstein Castle or Bärenloch Lake). With the beer glass participants can sample selected and uncommon beer types at different stands for € 1.50 per glass. Visitors who are not interested in the beer pass are asked to purchase a hiking ticket at the price of € 5.50. A brewers` market is set up around Nanstein Castle. The musical entertainment along the trail includes brass music as well as rock music and international hits. The hike starts on Saturday from 11 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. As parking at Nanstein Castle is limited, please make use of the parking lots in the city center of Landstuhl. You can also park your car at Bärenloch Lake in Kindsbach and start your hike there. Train stations are located in Landstuhl and Kindsbach. It is recommended to arrive by train and to use the train to get back to your starting point.

Saturday, October 1 – Monday, October 3 October Fair in Winnweiler

The town of Winnweiler celebrates its 1125th anniversary this year. The traditional town fair features fun rides and booths offering candies as well as food, beverages and musical entertainment. The fairground at the Schlossplatz opens Saturday at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m. a running event for young kids and students starts at the Marktplatz. The official opening of the fair starts with the tapping of the first keg of beer at the fountain in front of the Winnweiler Museum at 6.30 p.m. A Bavarian night with the party band “XXL Steirer” starts at 8 p.m. at the Festhaus (community center). Tickets at the door are € 8. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday the fairground opens at 1 p.m. The festivities continue on Sunday with a parade through the town center starting at 2 p.m. Afterwards the traditional raising of the fair pole takes place at the restaurant “Zum Donnersberg” followed by musical entertainment by the band “Overdrive”. The shops in the center of Winnweiler are on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. From 7 p.m. the music duo “Nimm 2” will perform on Schlossstrasse. Monday the locals will gather in the Winnweiler restaurants for a morning pint.
